Google History and Sources of Revenue


We may be familiar with Google. The search engine allows us to find relevant information and fast on the internet. Both have made Google's search engine in the world's most widely used (53.6%), followed by Yahoo (19.9%), and MSN (12.9%). 

In this post I would like to invite you to know better the history of Google in terms of establishment and the main source of revenue. Google history

Google's history began in January 1996. It was Larry Page and Sergey Brin (both PhD students at Stanford University, USA) conducted a study to create a new search engine that provides better search results (relevant) for its users. They hypothesize that relevant search results will be generated when a search engine that can analyze the relationship between websites. They finally produced a new search engine called BackRub. The name is taken because this search engine to analyze the backlinks of the website. 


Page and Brin tested BackRub at Stanford University website with google.stanford.edu domain name. They succeeded with this test. With this success, Page and Brin registered the domain google.com on September 15, 1997 and founded the company with the name of Google Inc. on September 4, 1998. Google's own name is a play on googol, which means 10 ^ 100.

Initially the company was located in the garage of their friends in Menlo Park California. Total investment in this company almost 1.1 million dollars, with 100 thousand dollars came from Andy Bechtolsheim (co-founder of Sun Mycrosystem In March 1999 the company. Moved to Palo Alto, where the elite area of technology development, known as the Silicon Valley. 

Quickly  google.com attracted worldwide attention because of the ease of Internet users and the relevance of the results with rapid progress, Google leased a complex of buildings in Mountain View from Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI) in 2007. This complex is known as the Googleplex, and Google has purchased from SGI in 2006 with a price of 319 million dollars currently the President Director (CEO) of Google.
