Montana man accidentally shot...by his dog.

Paramedics fought to save man's arm after he was accidentally shot by his dog.

Richard Fipps, the dog's owner was towing a friend's car after it had become stuck, when he ordered his dog to move from the truck's front seat to the back.

In the horrific accident, the dog knocked the trigger on the 46-year-old's rifle with his paw. Fipps was shot as he stood in the middle of the road in Montana, Wyoming.

The injured man was taken to hospital where doctors are fighting to save his arm, although it may have to be amputated.

"Carrying a loaded rifle in a truck is never a good idea, safety on or safety off," Steve Kozisek, the Johnson County Sheriff said.

"The rifle was loaded and in the bed of the truck and the dog hopped up there and either stepped on it or caused something to move and set it off," he added.

Kozisek said it was the first time in his 42-year career in the police force that he had ever dealt with an incident where a pet dog had shot its owner.

Just another example of a good dog exercising his 2nd Amendment rights.

Gotta love 'Merica!

3 year old shoots and kills man, because you know guns do that.

Family and friends are mourning the death of a former Stringtown and Murray State College basketball player.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokespersons said the 23-year-old man was accidentally shot Friday by a 3-year-old.

Family members were at a home on Wells Street in Stringtown, and were sighting-in a rifle, when one of the children reached over and pulled the trigger, shooting Brown in the neck.

Just a reminder that guns make perfectly harmless people incredibly dangerous.

And now this child has to live their entire live knowing that they killed a man even before they learned what death was.

"Mommy's shot."

A Tulsa woman is dead after her toddler son accidentally shot her in the head, police say.

Christa Engles, 26, was pronounced dead at an area hospital just after 5:30 p.m. Monday after being transported from her east Tulsa home in "grave condition."

Police say Engles was found by the children's grandmother, who arrived home to find the victim in the front room of the house with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say it appears she was changing the diaper of her 1-year-old daughter when she was shot by her 3-year-old son with a semiautomatic handgun.

According to the news report the young child discovered the gun under the couch, apparently there were several guns in the house, and he accidentally shot his mother to death.

Afterward the child kept repeating the phrase "Mommy's shot."

Just another tragedy brought to us by the American "gun culture."

Guns are not tools.

Guns are not accessories.

They are instruments of death, and they need to be treated as such.

Before they prove that to people the hard way.

Woman purchases gun in anticipation of violent protests in Ferguson, instead shoots herself in the head.

Courtesy of CNN:

A woman appears to have accidentally fatally shot herself in the head with a gun bought to prepare for possible Ferguson-related unrest, according to sources briefed on the police investigation.

The female victim, identified in a police report as Becca Campbell, 26, was a passenger in a car involved in an auto accident.

Her 33-year-old boyfriend was driving, the sources told CNN. The boyfriend, who wasn't identified, told police that the couple had bought a gun because of fears of unrest related to the pending grand jury decision on the shooting of Michael Brown, the sources said.

He told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.

He ducked to get out of the way of the gun and accidentally rear-ended another car.

He said the accident caused the gun to go off and she was struck by a bullet in the head, the sources said. The victim was rushed to a hospital but died.

That may be one of the dumbest death by handgun stories I have ever read.

Guns in the hands of untrained amateurs does not make anybody safer. But it certainly puts the person with the gun, and everybody around them, at greater risk.

It kind of makes me wonder how many bullets will fly once this Grand Jury decision is released.

Iowa cop accidentally shoots himself and fellow officer. So which one's that "bad guy with the gun?"

Courtesy of WQAD:

While a police officer was cleaning a gun, it reportedly discharged causing the officer to accidentally shoot himself and another officer.

The Iowa City police officers had been doing a routine cleaning of their service weapons at the Iowa City Police Department Monday, November 10, 2014, according to a release from the City of Iowa City. The city’s Daily Activity log indicated that at 8:37 two ambulances were sent to their department on Highway 6 East when an officer accidentally fired his weapon., shooting himself and another nearby officer.

Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The officers were taken to nearby hospitals, were treated and released.

The NRA is constantly telling us that the American people have nothing to fear from firearms in the hands of good people with the appropriate training.

However how much better trained can you be than an officer of the law?

The facts are that the more guns there are out there the more accidental shootings there will be.

That is not to say that Americans should not own firearms, if they are reasonable people who simply want them for protection, then of course they should have them.

But guns are dangerous and need to be respected as such. They are not accoutrements to somebody's macho lifestyle nor a means of gaining power in order to feel like a bad ass, they are instruments created to take a life.

And as the story above indicates, there is no amount of training, or experience with guns, that makes them completely safe. And anyone who tries to convince you that they are no more dangerous than any other tool you might have laying around your house, does not respect our intelligence, nor the weapons themselves.

Former pro-baseball player Jose' Conseco shoots off finger while cleaning his freedom protecting handgun.

Courtesy of KTNV:

Las Vegas police were called to the home of former Major League Baseball outfielder Jose Canseco on Tuesday afternoon after an accidental shooting.

Police said Canseco accidentally shot himself in the hand and was transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Officers said he was cleaning his handgun and didn't realize it was loaded. The gun went off, badly injuring one of the fingers on his left hand.

His fiance leila Knight spoke with KTNV-TV Channel 13 Action News on Tuesday evening, and said she was in the kitchen when she heard the shot. She told Action News that Canseco visited the gun range last week and forgot there was still a bullet left in the gun.

It is not known if Canseco's finger had to be amputated. He was released from the hospital early Wednesday morning.

You probably all know Conseco best for his tell all book about his steroid use and rock star lifestyle.

Gee he drove a sports car, used steroids, AND carries a gun with him everywhere he goes.

Really working hard to resist the urge to state the obvious.

But hey don't forget, the only thing that stops a bad finger, is a good finger on the trigger of a gun.

Twenty six year old man arrested for shooting and killing three year old while playing "gun tag."

Courtesy of NBC Montana:

Galen Hawk, 26, appeared in a Polson courtroom Friday afternoon on a negligent homicide charge.

Court documents say Hawk shot and killed 3-year-old Lonato Moran-Allen in a Ninepipes-area home Wednesday night.

Investigators say Hawk and two others took the boy to a Ronan hospital, where he died.

Court documents say Hawk and Moran-Allen were playing "gun tag." Moran-Allen had a toy gun and Hawk had a real one.

Prosecutors say Hawk told detectives he'd been drinking whiskey and alcoholic lemonade the night of the shooting.

Just another good guy with a gun keeping America safe, right NRA?

More guns, equal more deaths, period.
