Democrats lose their final Senate race in Louisiana last night. And you know who gets the credit right?

Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy has denied Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana a fourth term, calling his Senate victory "the exclamation point" on midterm elections that put Republicans in charge on Capitol Hill for President Barack Obama's last two years in office. 

With nearly all votes counted, unofficial returns showed Cassidy with a commanding victory in Saturday's runoff as he ousted the last of the Senate's Deep South Democrats. In the South, Democrats will be left without a single U.S. senator or governor across nine states stretching from the Carolinas to Texas.

Of course this is just the latest win in a string of victories for the Republicans who essentially ran the board this election cycle.

The Republicans were able to convince the barely attentive voters that President Obama was an abject failure and slime any Democrat who had dared work with him to pass legislation. Resulting of course in the loss of several Senate and Congressional seats.

Landrieu was doomed from the very start.

However that is the factual explanation for what happened.

In Sarah Palin's world she done did it.

Yeah of course she was trying like crazy to get Bill Cassidy's conservative opponent Rob Maness elected up until the official November, at times even seeming to be blissfully unaware that he had no shot, but she showed up in that airport hangar for Cassidy (She even got all dressed up.), and  that is all she wants people to remember.

When the chips were down and her candidate was crushed like a ball of soggy wet tissue paper, she suddenly decided that Bill Cassidy was her guy all along and she went to work for him. Which in her case meant a Facebook post or two, and showing up in an airport hangar in her "trolling for men in bars" outfit.

I mean if she had not shown up to support Cassidy who knows whether he could have pulled off this victory or not? (Spoiler alert:  He would have.)

Well since I am feeling masochistic we might as well take peek at Sarah Palin's Facebook page. Hell, why not?

I always feel so bad for this poor bear.

Thank you, wise voters! (Well THAT'S questionable.) Tonight is a big victory for We the People! Credit is due to the victorious candidates. Your message to President Obama is undeniably received, though he'll try to ignore it. 

Now, new Republican Congressional majority in the House and Senate, please realize that Americans were not necessarily voting FOR any party; they were voting AGAINST the continued dysfunction and corruption in D.C. We the People were saying, “enough is enough” to the scandals, crony capitalism, and utter lack of leadership in Washington. (If she is celebrating a Republican victory why is she describing all of their faults?)

The Democrats got mauled today, deservedly so. To prohibit that from happening to the GOP in 2016, it must learn the lesson from the last time Republicans held the Senate majority. This time they must not retreat, and it's our responsibility to hold them accountable. Will they fight for reform that aligns with the limited government planks of the Republican platform, or will they return to the big government cronyism and status quo favored by the permanent political class? Will they drain the swamp or decide the D.C. cesspool is really just a jacuzzi they can't wait to jump on into and shake us off? (Eew, a D.C. jacuzzi filled with likes of Mitch McConnell, Joni Ernst, and John Boehner is a visual that I cannot stomach this early in the morning.)

If GOP leadership returns to business as usual, then this majority will be short lived, for We the People say, “once bitten, twice shy.”  (Somebody might want to remind her stupidness that most of HER endorsees fell by the wayside during the primaries, and that besides Joni Ernst the winners are all mostly establishment GOP types. By the way how IS Rob Maness doing in Louisiana?)

So, establishment types, remember that you didn’t build this! (But yeah they kind of did.) This majority that swept you into power tonight is thanks to the rank and file commonsense conservative grassroots. (If by "grassroots" she means Koch brother money, then she is correct.) That’s who built it. And they expect results. They deserve the best for America.

Hang on, I just threw up a little in my mouth. 

If you visit Palin's Facebook page, and if you do remember to take your barf bag, you will see that the woman who does not think it is right to rub victory in the noses of the losers when HER folks lose, has a completely different point of view when her team emerges victorious.

If she shook her pom poms any harder one of them would undoubtedly fly out and take out somebody's eye.

Seriously is it too early to drink?

Open Secrets notices that SarahPAC only gave 5.5% of their donations to actual candidates. Also mentions a certain drunken brawl.

The involvement of immediate family members in a drunken brawl does little to boost one’s political prospects. (Over a month later and the brawl is still getting attention in all kinds of unexpected places.)

On a different level, the same might be said of a stingy leadership PAC. 

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s SarahPAC continued to perform underwhelmingly as a source of funds for other candidates in 2014′s third quarter, a report filed with the FEC this week showed. Out of $1.4 million the PAC had available in the third quarter — $978,000 sitting in the bank at the beginning of the July 1-Sept. 30 period, plus another more than $433,000 raised during that time — SarahPAC managed to donate just $45,000 to fellow Republicans running in the midterms. That’s a little more than 3 percent. 

For the two-year 2014 cycle, the former Alaska governor’s PAC, a vehicle that helps her stay in the game amid talk that she may run in the 2016 presidential contest, has raised $2.5 million on top of more than $1.1 million that was in the bank at the start of the cycle. It has spent $2.7 million, with about $150,000 — or 5.5 percent — going to candidates. 

That’s right about on par with the PAC’s parsimoniousness in 2012. Of the 417 leadership PACs that made at least one contribution in that cycle, SarahPAC was one of only 19 to give less than 10 percent of its total expenditures to candidates, other PACs or party committees. And it was one of only three of those spending more than $1 million to do so — the others being Rep. Ron Paul‘s (R-Texas) Liberty PAC and Sen. Marco Rubio‘s (R-Fla.) Reclaim America PAC.

I have to say that I love the fact that there are more journalists taking note of the fact that SarahPAC is simply a giant slush fund for Palin and her brood of out of work Wasilla-billies. 

It is of course also worth noting that not only does the PAC constantly spend more than it takes in, it is also bringing in thousands of dollars less each quarter.

It can only be a matter of time before Palin has to lower her standards to get a real job that does not involve standing in front of a green screen, making videos for her handful of subscribers, or flying across the country endorse a candidate or give a speech concerning one of the many things she pretends to be for attention.

Sarah Palin's endorsees are a colorful bunch, with numerous skeletons in their closets. But Arizona's Doug Ducey may take the cake.

So as we all know Palin endorsed former Cold Stone CEO and current Arizona State Treasurer, Doug Ducey, for Governor and lo and behold he actually won.

Not only that but the polls show that Ducey has a substantial lead on his Democratic challenger.

And that is important because Palin's win/loss record has been rather underwhelming.

It really does look like smooth sailing for Ducey. I mean I cannot imagine what might trip him up at this point.

I'm sorry, did you say his family has ties to organized crime?

According to newspaper accounts and public records from various court and congressional hearings, four of Ducey's relatives in an Italian-American family called Scott (anglicized from Scotti) were involved in illegal gambling in Ohio. 

Family members ran after-hours gambling clubs and participated in bookmaking, numbers-running, extortion, loan-sharking, and other lucrative illicit activities from the 1920s through the 1980s. 

The candidate's maternal grandfather, William Scott (a.k.a. Bill Scotti), was a convicted bookmaker who partnered with members of the Detroit mob. 

His son Billy Scott, Ducey's uncle, was a high-profile sports bookmaker in Toledo who did time in federal prison in Arizona before fleeing to the Caribbean island of Antigua, where he became an online gambling kingpin. 

Uncle Billy returned to the United States in 2012 to plead guilty in federal court to international money laundering and illegal Internet wagering. 

Ducey's great uncle Tony Paul Scott (a.k.a. Neufio Scott), his grandfather's brother, was among Toledo's "most legendary racketeers" and one of the "elders of the loosely knit Toledo crime family," according to the Toledo Blade, the city's daily newspaper. 

During his long life, Tony Paul was arrested numerous times, incarcerated for illegal gambling and highway robbery, and eventually stripped of his U.S. citizenship, though he was allowed to remain in this country until his death in 1993. 

These sins of the state treasurer's fascinating bloodline have remained unknown to the general public. Until now.

Okay, now that might leave a mark.

But then again which Republican politician is NOT in some way connected with organized crime?

Ducey's campaign forwarded this statement, from his spokeswoman who asked that I use her full Italian-American name, Melissa Mazzella DeLaney: 

"In the United States of America and in the State of Arizona, people know you and judge you based on your life, the way you have lived it and your accomplishments, not on the actions of relatives from previous generations. The New Times correctly reported that the information about past family members does not touch Doug Ducey's life or career. This has been a tough campaign where both candidates have had their careers vetted, which is entirely appropriate when seeking a very high office. Doug trusts the voters of Arizona to make decisions based on the life he has led and his vision to create greater opportunities as the next governor." 

I asked DeLaney whether Ducey got any of his start-up funds from any of the four relatives mentioned in the article or as a result of criminal activity. Her answer: "No, absolutely not."

So as you see Ducey did not deny that the connections exist, but simply stated that they have nothing to do with his life, or his success in business. 

In other words, "Fugeddabout it."

You know as I was reading thorough all of this I have to admit that I once again flashed on my past conversations with Shailey Tripp, who was the one who first mentioned Todd's connection to gambling and prostitution.

Two enterprises, by the way, that also often have ties to organized crime.
