New poll shows that the more religious you are the more okay with torture you are. I know, right?

Courtesy of Libraland:

One characteristic, above all else, defines the sociopath: an utter lack of guilt or remorse. One characteristic, above all else, defines Christianity: freedom from guilt and remorse. Christianity, as a rule, doesn't explicitly endorse the worst possible things a person can do. But it does forgive them, and that insidious negation of conscience is a quietly lethal thing. Anything's possible when you don't have to live with the guilt of doing it. And as one poll from NBC shows, even a group less trusted than rapists can be good, if there's no one around to take away the guilt of being bad.

The poll comes from MSNBC's This Week in God, 12/20/14 edition. It was conducted in concert with MSNBC's friend in print, the Washington Post. First up, this question, with results sorted by race and religious affiliation, or lack thereof:

The poll also asked the respondents if the CIA torture was justified. This how they answered in response to that question.

In the headline to this article over at Liberland was the word "shocking." However nothing about this shocks me.

The idea that people of faith are more moral or ethical is false, and one of the main reasons that I started The Immoral Minority in the first place.

Anytime any group claims to be the moral superior of others not in their group you can be dead certain that that is where you will find the most morally corrupt of them all.

Bristol Palin's ghostwriter blames the perception that there is an increase in racism on President Obama.

Courtesy of Brancy's blog:

When Obama took office, his supporters were very optimistic about what having the first black President would do for our country. We could finally get past racism, and prove it to the world. But it hasn’t turned out like they said.

Having a black President promised to make things fair and equal for everyone. In his campaign, Obama said the U.S. had been “stuck” in “a racial stalemate… for years,” and he wanted to help the country “move beyond some of our old racial wounds.”

Obama himself thinks he’s done a pretty good job at that — he recently said that even though racism is “deeply rooted” in our society, we’ve made progress as a country.

However, most Americans don’t agree with him. A poll by Bloomberg Politics says that 53% of Americans think race relations have gotten worse since Obama took office — 56% of whites and 45% of blacks.

Only 9 percent of the people in the poll said race relations had gotten better under Obama.

Another poll by Wall Street Journal and NBC discovered only 40% of white people and 35% of black people thought race relations were “good” in the US. It’s the lowest those numbers have been in almost 20 years.

Instead of becoming less charged, conversations about race have become more controversial. People’s reactions to the decision in Ferguson and NYC are recent examples. The country is much more divided on race now than it was when Obama took office.

Why is that the case?

I’m not here to analyze politics. (Could you even imagine Bristol Palin trying to analyze anything?) But I sure do think that if we could look past color instead of constantly pointing out our differences, that would go a long ways toward making relationships between races better instead of worse. Sometimes it seems like the President and the people he appoints are more interested in pointing out the bad, instead of pointing people towards the better America that they say they want.

Okay well first off obviously we know that this is all Nancy French as directed by Sarah Palin, and Bristol probably does not even know the post exists.

But since she allows her name to be used to pimp this garbage let me respond as if the Palin baby factory is actually capable of stringing words together to make actual sentences. (I've read some of her e-mails and texts. Trust me she gives stupid people a bad name.)

So listen here Bristol, if you are looking for somebody to blame for the increased racism, look no further than the house you grew up in. That is where Alaska's own little Miss Race Baiter resides for a little less than half of each year.

After all the very first signs of a resurgence in racism was found at one of Palin's rallies back in October of 2008. Which of course came after Palin herself had started claiming that our future President palled around with terrorists and wanted to fundamentally change the country for the worst.

From there it simply expanded exponentially and soon they were accusing him of not being born in the country, being a Muslim, having an anti-colonial mindset, being gay, being a communist, and just about everything else under the sun.

President Obama is not responsible for any of that.

All he did is, by daring to win the presidency, set a match to a barely concealed powder keg of racism to which that much of the country seemed completely oblivious.

Racism did not increase, it simply refuses to stay hidden any longer.

Today the white sheets and pointy hats are replaced by the tri-corner hats of the Teabaggers, the suits of the Fox News pundits,or simply a pair of red, white, and blue cowboy boots.

So let me say this as nicely as I possibly can.

Fuck off!

If any one person is to blame she is in the picture up. NOT sitting in the White House doing his job day in and day out, against an unprecedented sea of opposition.

According to Fox News the American public need to be trained to respect the police. Yeah, that's the problem.

Courtesy of We Are Anonymous:

Fox “News” host, Jeanine Pirro, closed out her segment of Justice with Judge Jeanine with an ‘Instapoll‘ asking their notoriously ignorant, neoconservative audience about police violence directed at the minority community. While the results of the poll from Fox viewers is not surprising, the utter stupidity of Fox and their out of touch viewers is rarely broadcasted in this raw of a form.

You know occasionally I watch a little of Pirro's show just to remind myself how histrionic these people can be.

She is an incredibly abrasive woman, who may actually hate the President even more intensely than Sarah Palin.

It is no surprise that her viewers are just as arrogantly out of touch as she is.

8 in 10 Americans believe in climate change.

Courtesy of USA Today:

Eight out of 10 Americans now believe the climate is changing, according to a new survey conducted for Munich Re America, the world's largest reinsurance firm.

"Our survey findings indicate that national sentiment over whether or not climatic changes are occurring has finally reached a tipping point," said Tony Kuczinski, president of Munich Re America.

Of course believing that the climate is changing is only part of the battle,  WHY do they think it is changing?

The main survey question — "In your opinion, do you believe that climate change is occurring?" — did not specify whether the changes were due to man-made or natural causes, according to Peter Hoeppe, head of Munich Re's Geo Risks Research.

Hoeppe said that about 60% of people say the climate is changing due to man-made causes.

Well that's encouraging.

Now what do these respondents think we should to about it?

The survey found that 71% of respondents believed greater use of alternative energy sources, such as solar or wind power, would be the most effective in the battle against climate change.

Well there you go then.

Now if only we can get some of this 71% elected to Congress we might actually be able to do something to fight this problem before we all need to start growing gills in order to survive.

New poll shows that liberals want Elizabeth Warren for their 2016 presidential candidate over Hillary Clinton by double digits. Which really should come as no surprise to anyone.

Courtesy of CNN:

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren -- not Hillary Clinton -- is the top progressive choice for president in 2016, according to a new poll.

In fact, Clinton doesn't even make second place. Forty two percent of respondents favor Warren, and Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders also edges out Clinton with 24% compared to her 23%, according to results from the 2016 Presidential Pulse Poll commissioned by progressive grassroots organization Democracy for America.

Okay now before everybody gets their hemp panties in a twist, please remember that this poll was conducted by Democracy for America, which is to liberal politics what the Tea Party Express is to conservative politics.

I am in total agreement that Elizabeth Warren would make an amazing candidate in 2016, but the facts are that she does not want the job. (At least not yet.)

And though I adore Bernie Sanders, let's face it on TV he often looks like somebody woke your grandfather up from his nap and stuck a microphone in his face.

He is great on the politics, but the packaging might be a problem. (Yes I know it is not supposed to be a beauty contest, but there is a reason the Republicans chose Mitt Romney and it is not due to his mastery of the facts.)

I think, to be honest, that there is no real doubt that Hillary is going to be the candidate whether she is the liberal's first choice or not.  And let's face it, they will turn out to vote for her, no problem.

Now in my favorite political fantasy she invites Warren to join her on the ticket. But at this point I don't know if that is feasible or not.

If it were to happen, I would say that the turn out may far exceed the turnout for Barack Obama in the 2008 election, and it would quite literally cause many Republicans to soil themselves in response.
