Hundreds of former Obama supporters are now urging Elizabeth Warren to once again deny Hillary Clinton the Democratic nomination.

More than 300 former Obama campaign staffers signed an open letter Friday morning urging Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016. 

The letter draws parallels between Obama's come-from-behind insurgent candidacy and Warren, who would enter the race an underdog against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton if the latter runs, as expected. 

Clinton is seen as the likely Democratic nominee if she jumps in the race, and leads every survey of the potential Democratic field by double digits. But the same was true during her first run for president, in 2008, when a then little-known senator from Illinois jumped in and upended what many expected to be a coronation for the former first lady. 

"We believed in an unlikely candidate who no one thought had a chance," the letter opens. 

"We know that the improbable is far from impossible," it goes on.

Once again I am conflicted.

Like many others I have some reservations concerning Hillary. Though I still see her as the Democratic party's best hope in 2016.

That being said the speech that Warren delivered on the Senate floor Friday spoke to me in a way that I have not felt since Obama's amazing speeches during his campaign and in the early days of his presidency.

If there were no Hillary, I have no doubt that I would be pushing with all my might to encourage Warren to run.

However I also believe that Warren will be a powerful voice in the Senate and that in those chambers she can electrify the Democrats like few others can these days.

Of course if Hillary taps Warren as her running mate then for me that would be the best of all possible options.

Anybody care to disagree?

Elizabeth Warren takes to the Senate floor to take on Citigroup and condemn the politicians who seemingly work for them. Amazing speech!

“You know,” Warren said Friday, “there is a lot of talk lately about how Dodd-Frank isn’t perfect. There is a lot of talk coming from Citigroup about how Dodd-Frank isn’t perfect. So let me say this to anyone who is listening at Citi – I agree with you. Dodd-Frank isn’t perfect. It should have broken you into pieces.”

I cannot remember when the last time was that I wanted to stand up and cheer for a speech on the Senate floor, but I certainly did yesterday.

Elizabeth Warren has now thrown down the gauntlet for her fellow Democrats, and I really don't think they can ignore it. 

And you can tell that Warren really frightens the Republicans by who is coming after her since this speech.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), responding to Sen. Elizabeth's Warren (D-Mass.) criticism of the $1.1 trillion government spending bill's provision that allows banks to take more risk with taxpayer money, on Friday evening went after Warren and other Democrats who sided against the bill. 

"If you follow the lead of the senator of Massachusetts and bring this bill down … people are not going to believe you are mature enough to run the place,” Graham said on the Senate floor. “Don’t follow her lead. She’s the problem." 

"I'm sure on MSNBC you're going to be well thought of, and on the liberal version of talk radio you'll have your moment with that crowd," Graham said, chiding Warren and other Democrats who deplored what has been called a Wall Street giveaway. 

"You're tired, you're frustrated, you're upset about a provision in the bill you don't like," he added of Warren.

Yeah way to talk down to somebody who is clearly your intellectual superior. 

By the way as you may have noticed from the previous post Warren has at least one well known conservative figure essentially agreeing with her about the Cromnibus bill. Sarah Palin.

Gee I guess we can all look forward to an impassioned ghostwritten Facebook post in favor of Senator Warren. Right?

New poll shows that liberals want Elizabeth Warren for their 2016 presidential candidate over Hillary Clinton by double digits. Which really should come as no surprise to anyone.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren -- not Hillary Clinton -- is the top progressive choice for president in 2016, according to a new poll. 

In fact, Clinton doesn't even make second place. Forty two percent of respondents favor Warren, and Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders also edges out Clinton with 24% compared to her 23%, according to results from the 2016 Presidential Pulse Poll commissioned by progressive grassroots organization Democracy for America.

Okay now before everybody gets their hemp panties in a twist, please remember that this poll was conducted by Democracy for America, which is to liberal politics what the Tea Party Express is to conservative politics.

I am in total agreement that Elizabeth Warren would make an amazing candidate in 2016, but the facts are that she does not want the job. (At least not yet.)

And though I adore Bernie Sanders, let's face it on TV he often looks like somebody woke your grandfather up from his nap and stuck a microphone in his face.

He is great on the politics, but the packaging might be a problem. (Yes I know it is not supposed to be a beauty contest, but there is a reason the Republicans chose Mitt Romney and it is not due to his mastery of the facts.)

I think, to be honest, that there is no real doubt that Hillary is going to be the candidate whether she is the liberal's first choice or not.  And let's face it, they will turn out to vote for her, no problem.

Now in my favorite political fantasy she invites Warren to join her on the ticket. But at this point I don't know if that is feasible or not.

If it were to happen, I would say that the turn out may far exceed the turnout for Barack Obama in the 2008 election, and it would quite literally cause many Republicans to soil themselves in response.

Senator Elizabeth Warren receives new job, that illustrates her importance to the future of the Democratic party.

Senate Democrats have enlisted progressive firebrand Elizabeth Warren to be a member of their leadership team, giving a major platform to a liberal icon just a week after Democrats took a beating at the polls and lost control of the Senate. 

Harry Reid, the incoming Senate minority leader, had engaged in private talks with the Massachusetts freshman to create a special leadership post for the former Harvard professor, and the leadership elections Thursday solidified the new Democratic team.

The title will be strategic policy adviser to the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee — a specially created position that puts Warren into a much more prominent position in the Senate hierarchy. 

In the new position, Warren is expected to serve as a go-between to liberal groups to ensure their voice is part of the leadership’s private deliberations. She would be part of the messaging and policy team. 

Some see this appointment by Reid is a move away from bipartisanship,  but let's face it the Republicans are not really ever going to work with the Democrats anyhow. Unless of course the Democrats agree to acquiesce to every one of their demands.

However Warren's take no shit personality scares the bejeezus out of the Republicans, and that endears her to the liberal base which is only growing bigger everyday.

I think this might just be Harry Reid's way of sticking his thumb in the eye of the conservatives.

But do you know what would send them right over the edge?

Having Warren's name appear on the ballot alongside Hillary's in 2016.

Oh, that would be glorious.

Bob Cesca bravely fights for America's right to mock Sarah Palin. And so far he is winning.

For the last several months or so, I’ve been following the intellectually-impaired grifter antics over at The Sarah Palin Channel — Palin’s recently launched subscription service, which also happens to feature free-to-the-public videos posted on the main page. In the process of covering the Sarah Palin beat, it’s been necessary to excerpt sections of her videos and to subsequently embed the “takeouts” (Antonin Scalia’s word) on The Daily Banter in the context of reviewing her illiterate blather. 

One of the clips in particular went viral. You might recall the video in which Palin lapsed into some sort of aphasia or stupor and began to babble about Elizabeth Warren, fast food and Purgatory. To date, no one’s been able to adequately decipher what she was saying. Accordingly, my excerpted clip and the accompanying article spread throughout the blogosphere and, as of late September, was pushing toward 700,000 views. 

However, the view count was halted and the video was disabled when Sarah Palin’s production company stumbled upon it. 

Cesca goes on to share the forms he had to fill out, and the hoops he had to jump through, in order to get YouTube to listen to his side of the story after TAPP complained that he was essentially stealing content.

Cesca also mentions in this piece that Palin herself has argued for the 1st Amendment rights of those on the Right, often confusing them with the right of an employer to fire an employee for saying controversial things on the air.

After Cesca explained to Yo0u Tube that he was using the snippet under the fair use clause for journalistic purposes, and also pointing out that TAPP did the same by borrowing from Elizabeth Warrren's speech so that Palin could mock her, he got his video back up.

So this is good news for all of us, for as you know I will not pay to watch Palin make a fool of herself on that crazy ass channel blog  of hers, but I will certainly make fun of any video that others snatch from that sea of desperation and bring out into the light for the amusement of others.

Speaking of desperate and amusing, late last night Palin decided to finally come out for Mark Begich's opponent, and her former Attorney General, Dan Sullivan.

Barack Obama, thank you for sealing the deal for the next U.S. Senator from the great state of Alaska, Dan Sullivan!

"These are all folks who vote with me!" - Barack Hussein Obama October 20, 2014 (Geez is she still using his middle name as a slam against him? Grow the fuck up.)

This then links to a Breitbart article, big surprise, that contains this statement from the President that he made yesterday:   

"Here's the bottom line: We've got a tough map. A lot of the states that are contested this time are states they didn't win. So some of the candidates there, you know, it is difficult for them to have me in the state because the Republicans will use that to try to fan Republican turnout. The bottom line is, these are all folks who vote with me. They have supported my agenda in congress. They are on the right side of minimum wage. They are on the right side of fair pay. They are on the right side of rebuilding our infrastructure. They're on the right side of early childhood education. So, this isn't about my feelings being hurt. These are folks who are strong allies and supporters of me. And I tell them, I said, you know what, you do what you need to win. I will be responsible for making sure that our voters turn up."

As you can see it does not mention Mark Begich by name, or even which states the President is talking about, but the Republicans have been quick to pounce on it and to start using it against Democrats in red states.

It contains nothing new, and of course reminds the voters who put these individuals in office in the first place why they are the best candidate for 2014, but in Palin's world it "seals the deal" for Dan Sullivan.

And all I can say to that is if she is so determined to help Dan Sullivan win then she needs to get SarahPAC to endorse him and start making appearances with him in the state.

I mean if she is really a king maker with conservatives then this is her opportunity to prove it.

Unless she is afraid that is.
